About festival

The City Jazz festival was founded as a basis for popularization of improvisational music - the music that you don't hear from TVs during "prime-time." This festival is dedicated to those who are interested in mixing styles - the people whose lives are involved with music and don't accept borders and conformity.
Every year the festival presents new performers that play jazz and world music. Every City Jazz festival is an authentic event for the audience and for the musicians. For listeners it is an opportunity to see not only outstanding artists but, a great chance to evaluate young musicians and to find out which direction the music idea is flowing. For musicians this festival gives a chance to present new projects, to improvise and to jam. The festival with enthusiasm explores non-ordinary projects, some of which are considered the "first in Russia".

Musicians that performed at the festival in 2006-2008: Stacey Kent (UK), Stephane Huchard (France), Avishai Cohen (Israel), Marimba Plus (Russia), Datevik Hovanesian (USA), Andrea Marcelli (Italy), Ivan Smirnov (Russia), Zventa Sventana (Russia), Alexey Kozlov (Russia), Alex Rostosky (USA), Eric Truffaz (France), The Bad Plus (USA) and more than 20 band extra.
