In 2009 CityJazz will be held for the 4th time. Festival headliner this year is fabulous Marcus Miller.

As a child, Miller was around music a lot and always fooling around on the piano: His father played piano and organ (mainly in church). At the age of eight Miller began playing the recorder, and the clarinet at age ten at the public schools he attended. In middle school, he learned to play the saxophone as well. As a teenager, Miller began to play bass in some funk bands in his neighborhood, learning about funk and grooves, and relating to people with music.

Miller spent approximately 15 years performing as a sideman or session musician and observing how great bandleaders operated. During that time he also did a lot of arranging and producing. During the late seventies he was a member of the Saturday Night Live band from 1978 through 1979. He played on over 500 recordings, including those by Luther Vandross, Grover Washington Jr., Roberta Flack, Carly Simon, McCoy Tyner, Bryan Ferry and Billy Idol. He won the "Most Valuable Player" award, (awarded by NARAS to recognize studio musicians) three years in a row and was subsequently awarded "player emeritus" status and retired from eligibility. In the nineties, Miller began to record his own records, he had to put a band together to take advantage of touring opportunities.

In 1981 Marcus Miller was invited to join re-union band of his childhood dream musician Miles Davis. Later on, in 1986, Miller wrote "Tutu" album for Miles Davis and played all musical instruments on the record.

In 2007 Marcus Miller visited Russia for the first time to play at the biggest jazz open-air festival "Usadba.Jazz" in manor Archangelskoe. It was a great success which made it possible for Miller to come back one year later with The Thunder!Tour (together with Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten) for a sold out show.

And now Marcus Miller's back again! In the framework of world-tour Tutu Revisited - The Music of Miles Davis he will have a huge performance at Moscow International House of Music together with wonderful trumpet player Christian Scott from New Orleans.

Marcus Miller - bass, clarinet, Christian Scott - trumpet, Alex Han - saxophone, Federico Gonzalez Pena - keyboard, Ronald Bruner - drums

Iconoclastic and prolific jazz-rock guitarist David ‘Fuze' Fiuczynski, a jazz player who"doesn't want to play just jazz", has been hailed by the world press as an incredibly inventive guitar hero, who continues to deliver with music that is unclassifiable, challenging and invigorating. An innovative musician who has released nine CD's and a double live DVD, Fuze is best known as the leader of the Screaming Headless Torsos.
